Jason Brown, MA

Jason Brown has been an educator for nearly 30 years. He began his career as a teacher at Midwest City High School, where he taught Honors World History and A.P. Government, and even started a Competitive Academics class. In addition, Jason taught at the alternative school in the evenings. During this time, he founded Test Wizards, a consulting firm specializing in preparing students for success on the ACT and other standardized exams required for college entrance.

While expanding Test Wizards, Jason was hired by Oklahoma City Public Schools to work with the GEAR UP program, helping ensure college and career readiness for students. Over his three years with OKCPS, Jason was promoted several times, eventually serving as Interim Director of Curriculum Services. However, missing direct interaction with teachers and students, he left the test prep and curriculum world to begin the school administrator phase of his career.

Jason spent two successful years as principal of Del Crest, where the school made significant gains on their Academic Performance Index. He then became the principal of Santa Fe High School in Edmond Public Schools. Under his leadership, Santa Fe High School achieved the highest Academic Performance Index of any 6A high school in Oklahoma at the time.

In June 2011, Jason was hired as the Executive Director of Secondary Education for Edmond Public Schools, becoming the first person of color to serve as a member of the Superintendent’s Cabinet in Edmond. In the summer of 2013, he was hired as Assistant Superintendent for Norman Public Schools, where he established a positive relationship with the teachers’ union and revolutionized their hiring and recruitment practices. Jason was soon promoted to Deputy Superintendent, leading a strategic planning process that transformed the district’s accountability practices.

In 2019, Jason returned to Oklahoma City Public Schools, a district close to his heart, where he most recently led the academic and instructional wing as Deputy Superintendent, overseeing all aspects of teaching and learning.

In September 2023, Jason D. Brown was proudly inducted into the Oklahoma African American Educators Hall of Fame.

Although he was the first in his family to attend college, Jason graduated summa cum laude from Oklahoma Christian University.

Jason is a results-driven administrator with 29 years of experience impacting the lives of students and educators through staff training, student motivation, leadership, and curriculum development. He is now seeking to apply his school improvement initiatives, strategic planning, and leadership skills in a position that values authenticity, equity, and aligns with his moral and ethical compass.
